NOTES:
My high school art teacher made me collect pencils so when
drawing, I would always have a variety of graphite shades
to choose from. It's like painting, but with pencils! This
unicorn picture is one of the works of art where the depth
of field (from the multitude of graphite hues) really shows
up nicely. I am eternally grateful to that teacher, it's just
one of many valuable lessons he taught me--Thank you Mr. Martin.
Did you know that hands and feet are the second hardest thing
for an artist to draw? Look at any artwork closely, quite
often hands (and feet) are hidden in pockets or poorly done
if the artist isn't top-notch. Now you know an expert tip
for judging artwork <g>.
One of many black & white unicorn pics in the online galleries,
this one is DEFinitely an early work with the unicorn and
maiden symbols placed in more of a fantasy setting (compared
to later works). Unicorn pics of both sorts, fantasy AND surreal
art settings, can be found in this gallery :) For me, fantasy
art led quite naturally to surrealism.
